Tom would like me to tell everyone to feel free to leave comments under any of the entries, if you have anything you would like to say. We love reading them. Thanks!
What a wonderful encouragement to hear of Steve's improvements.
Advent is a season of Anticipation and Hope!
I am reminded that, in her last month of pregnancy, Mary was in uncomfortable and in pain - riding on the back of a donkey for a day and a half was probably not what she would've chosen to do. But she followed through and gave birth to the Savior in a warm hospital with nurses tending to her… Oh, wait, I almost forgot; she was in a barn with mules licking the sweat from her brow. The very bed that she laid her son was a feeding trough for the barn animals.
This is a beautiful reminder of how much God loves us and is willing to submit himself, in order to identify with our human condition. His ultimate submission was his death on the cross.
Forgive me for being bold – but Steve is in his time of Advent. We all agree that he is going to come through this, in God’s perfect timing. It is a painful time in so many ways, but a time for HOPE! Our confidence is in the Lord, the same Lord that chose Mary. Lest we forget what the Lord said to Mary when he visited her in her room. “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.”
Schmits family: "Do not be afraid, God is with you and his favor is upon you!"
My family and I are with you in spirit. Having walked the path that you are all on now we understand your valley's and peaks. Just keep in mind that baby steps forward are a good thing. We are here for your support. If you need to talk please feel free to call. You might want to check out the web sight, tbirecovery.org Ed and family
It’s you friend D-Pan. We here in Cincinnati will be praying for you and your family. Your sister is doing a great job keeping us updated. We haven’t talked in a while but you have always been on everyone’s mind. Keep improving, keep fighting. In all the years that I have known you, you have been a fighter. I am not much a religious man but I do know that god is with you and helping you and your family through this tough time. Know that all of your friends here love you and are very proud of you and your accomplishments. We will continue praying.
Old Schmito- Yo, it's your boy Hlavaty from Cincy. I just found out the news today from Niki and I am sorry to hear about your accident. We haven't talked for a while, but I continued to think about you and hope for your success. You are a strong person and if anyone can get through this it's you. Stay strong!
I am a friend of Steve's from Ohio State and I was recently informed of Steve's accident. My thoughts and prayers are with Steve, you, and your family at this time. Is there anywhere I could send something for Steve and your family? I am not sure about the rules of different hospitals regarding that so please let me know. I spent a lot of time with Steve at OSU and in that time I came to realize he is a fighter and he has a deep faith in God. Because of that, I know he will get through this. Thank you so much for starting this blog and keeping us all updated about Steve.
steve-- hey man, i know that you are going to fight through this. you have so much energy backing you up. your family, friends, everyone is here thinking of you and praying for you to get through this. we love you, steve. miss you. keep on!
Lois & I are glad to hear that Steve is improving. If there is anything we can do from here please don't hesitate to give us a call (513-231-8711). You all are in our prayers.
It's Kristine - your childhood buddy from down the street. Remember all those times that you used to beat me in neighborhood soccer games? And when we got into arguments at the bus stop (innocent, childish arguments, of course)? That's how I know you have a good fight in you. And if anyone can fight through this process of recovery - it's you, buddy.
I know that it has been a while since we've talked, but I want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I look forward to the day when we can have a North Timberlane Drive reunion.
Steve ~ Keep fighting buddy! I know that the Lord will give you strength when He want's you and needs you to be strong. The Pierced community is praying for you and holding you in our thoughts on a daily basis.
The passage from Beverly Rose's book that I read in church a month ago along with my photography, I believe holds true to your situation today. I believe that you have personally experienced a "thin place", and await the testimony that you'll share with us in the near future. Here's what she said:
"Imagine a place between seashore and sea, earth and sky, here and now and heaven to come-a place where the veil between this life and the next is so thin you can almost touch the very hand of God. That mysterious place on the ethereal edge of exsistence has been known for centuries as a "thin place". You can see it for yourself today-if you know where to look for the unseen. God waits for us in thin places, beckoning us to grasp the beauty of his handiwork-and reach out for the hand that made it."
God is SO close to you right now. Through doctors, nurses, family, and friends. And I am thankful as we all are that He is in you, restoring your body, mind, and spirit. ~ Amon

Steve, Beth, Tom, and Georgina,
I just heard what happened -- I'm so sorry. You are each in my thoughts and prayers.
You all have a lot of support coming from Ohio, and if there's any family strong enough to get Steve through this, it's yours.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do.

Hey Steve,
